I have either used digital photography gear with release years below in the past or continue to use today because of what they add to my work.

Therefore, I'd say they are recommended.

Plus, the items here can be found for $100-$1,000 nowadays.

This list will be updated, and when reviews are available, the entries here will be linked. Not foreshadowing anything at all.

Sony a7c (2020) – smallest full-frame interchangeable mirrorless that is able to use DSLR lenses and silent shutter, improved battery life and 24mp image sensor.
Canon 60D (2010) – classic design and colors, Magic Lantern custom firmware, IR-ability
Nikon D810 (2014) – workhorse at 36MP and great battery life and ergonomics.
Pentax K-5 (2010)– great classic DSLR body design and image quality
Ricoh GR (2016) and Ricoh GR III - image quality and portability

Pentax FA 50mm f1.7 (1987) - I used to think it was the sharpest ever lens
Samyang 135mm f/2.0 ED UMC (2015) - standard affordable for astro
Tamron SP 150-600mm F5.0-6.3 Di VC USD (2014) – while heavy and slow to focus, one for Nikon offers decent image quality and stabilization
Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary (2021) - sharpest all around zoom for Sony E
Sony 24-70mm F2.8 ZA SSM Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* (2008) - cause Zeiss T* coating
